Feliz Otoño!

The heart of our mission is our outreach program. Over 30 volunteers provide lunches, hygiene products, tents and cold weather gear, water and ice in the heat, and more to between 400 and 500 individuals experiencing homelessness every Sunday. We are the largest outreach going directly to folks on the streets in the San Fernando Valley. Two elements are central to the success of our outreach: meeting people where they are, and developing relationships.

We do not serve food or supplies from a centralized location, but instead go to encampments and locations where unhoused people are living all over the West Valley, which allows us to reach people where they live. Each of our outreach teams has a regular route that they go to every week, so they meet the people living on that route and develop lasting relationships of trust. These relationships make it possible for us to meet particular needs in an individualized way. They also mean that the assistance we offer is based on real and mutual relationships of care. Outreach relationships are at the basis of all the other support we are able to offer, including vaccine clinics, assistance during sweeps/comprehensive cleanups, and follow-up with people as they move through the system to get into housing.
